The Black Hiratsuka
The Black Hiratsuka
This piece is named after the terraced rice patties of Hiratsuka, Japan as the silhouette is reminiscent of the gentle stair stepped slopes on the hills of the Japanese countryside.
The 3 yards of 6-inch black crinoline (horsehair) is folded and spiraled for a one-of-a-kind look fitting for any Sunday meeting, lunch, the Royal Ascot race, the Kentucky Derby, or the Melbourne Cup.
This piece, as so many of my creations, have multiple functions including but not limited to shades, mask or a coiffure that doesn’t require sitting in a salon chair for four hours.
Also, the rain won’t ruin the synthetic material if it should happen. Finally, this hat travels and because of the pliancy and flexibility it will return to its original silhouette even if it is snugly packed for travel.
